Manchin says he won’t take a position in the Trump administration

Joseph "Joe" Manchin III is the senior United States Senator from West Virginia. ManchinWest Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin says he had a very productive and informative meeting with President-elect Trump at Trump Towers and is humbled by the job offer but he will not take a position in President-elect Trump’s administration and will instead stay in the U.S. Senate.

The grandson and great-grandson of immigrants, Manchin — taken from the Italian “Mancini” — calls his delicate walk between his party and his own identity a journey of “balance” and “common sense.” And he attributes his success to his small-town upbringing and experience as a state legislator, secretary of state and governor dating back to 1982.

Recently, the organization has exposed lavish spending and crony contracts at the College of DuPage, in the Chicago suburbs.On Friday, the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition announced that government reformer Adam Andrzejewski will speak at the Coalition’s annual conference next weekend in South Carolina.

Andrzejewski (pictured), founder of OpenTheBooks.com, has built the largest private database of government spending at all levels, giving activists a critical tool to hold officials accountable. The conference takes place January 17-19 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The news itself is alarming: “Poor government leadership” on the part of the White House, Congress and combative politicians was deemed the “top problem in 2014” – more than the economy, terrorism, racism, the federal debt, unemployment, healthcare, immigration and a host of other troubling issues.

No, really. This is research from a Gallup poll released Friday and it is also the first time government leadership has been No. 1 on the list since the pollster began tabulating such sentiments 14 years ago. SC Tea Party leader: “It’s better for Graham to have four targets instead of one”

Press-ConferenceSouth Carolina’s Tea Party leaders are taking aim at incumbent Sen. Lindsay Graham– from four directions. The group of conservative and independent-minded Republicans wants to give exposure to all four of Graham’s GOP primary challengers at its upcoming statewide convention.

“It’s better for Lindsey Graham to have four targets instead of one,” state Tea Party Patriots leader Joe Dugan said. Dugan, a Conway native, is one of the most active members of the movement in South Carolina.
